Delbert Roy “Rat” Rhodes, Sr. age 81, of Florence, passed away Thursday, October 30th, 2025.

Visitation will be Saturday, November 1st, from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at Williams Funeral Home of Florence. The service will follow at 1:00 pm in the funeral home chapel with Brothers Mike Wimberly and Craig Mason officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Tabor Cemetery. Pallbearers will be nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Neal and Lurley Rhodes; 5 brothers and 2 sisters.

Survivors are his loving wife of 62 years, Elaine Rich Rhodes; sons, Delbert Rhodes, Jr. (Mandy) and Neal Rhodes (Cindy); beloved grandsons, Wesley, Will, and Huston Rhodes; sisters-in-law, Peggy Rich, Linda Rhodes, Janice Rhodes, Bobbie Rhodes and numerous nieces and nephews.

Delbert was a member and Deacon at First Baptist Church of Iron City. He was a certified Master Logger, member of the Operating Engineers local #660, retired as a heavy equipment operator and owned and operated D & E Logging Company. He also was a supervisor with the tree service crew at Florence Electricity Department and was an over-the-road truck driver for El Rancho Furniture Company. He was an avid coon hunter and loved watching Alabama Crimson Tide Football. Special thanks to Dr. Lyman Mitch, Jr, Nurse Weston, and all the caregivers with Amedisys for their love and care. “When his eyes met Jesus, it took his breath away”.

  2. Prayers and love to Elaine, Delbert Jr., Neal, and their families. Delbert Sr. will be missed by so many but rest assured he is having a wonderful time with Jesus and so many family members already on Heaven ‘s shore. May God comfort each of you as only He can.
