Carletta Ruth
Brown

September 27, 1939 - November 3, 2025

Carletta Ruth Brown, 86, of Muscle Shoals, Alabama, passed away peacefully at home in Louisa Virginia, surrounded by family on the morning of November 3, 2025.

Born and raised in Alabama, Carletta traveled frequently with her husband, wherever his work carried them.  She enjoyed working as a Tax Consultant with H & R Block during some of these travels. No matter how far and wide she traveled, she always carried her Southern roots with her. Though she spent the last nine years in Virginia with her daughters, Alabama was always home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Brown Jr.; twin sons, Bennett and Barrett Brown; parents, Inez and Earl Jackson; brother, Vincent Jackson; and many other beloved family members.

She is survived by her daughters, Joy Stockton (Jim) and Benita “Jan” Scarborough (Tim); grandchildren James “Bo” Stockton, Meghan Lesser (Matt), Chad Haire (Christy), Christian Haire, and Tera Nilson (Dylan); and great-grandchildren Emily Kober, James and Grey Stockton, Matthew, Brendan and Cohen Lesser, Aubree Haire, Sadie and John Adam Waters.

A devoted Alabama football fan, Carletta bled crimson red and rarely missed a game. She enjoyed diamond-dotting, painting, and watching the Game Show Network. Known for her warm Southern accent, witty expressions, and deep love for her family, she was a proud mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who never missed a chance to cheer her loved ones on.  A faithful daughter of Christ, Carletta’s kindness and care touched everyone she met.

Visitation will be at Williams Funeral Home on November 21, 2025: 12:00pm to 1:30pm followed by a 2:00 pm graveside service at Tri -Cities Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Bo Stockton, Chad Haire, Shannon Haataja, Scott Haataja, Drew Brown and Matthew Brown.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your local Battered Women’s Shelter or the state Moose Heart for orphaned children.
