Davis
Hughey

April 17, 1947 - August 2, 2025

Davis Hughey, 78, of Florence passed peacefully from this life to his Heavenly home on August 2, 2025, surrounded by his family. Prior to his retirement, Davis was a real estate appraiser and owned a medical equipment rental and sales business for over 20 years. He was best known for his strong work ethic, his sense of humor, and his compassion for others. He loved the outdoors and spent many vacations with his family hiking trails in the Great Smoky Mountains.

Davis’s life was marked by quiet strength, devotion to family, and a deep appreciation for nature. He found immense joy in spending time on the water, especially boating and pulling his grandchildren and their friends on tubes on the river—creating memories that will stay with them forever. His grandchildren were the light of his life.

Davis was preceded in death by his daughter, Allyson Hughey Hanson; his parents, Paul and Wilda Hughey; and one brother, Randy Hughey. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 50 years, Linda Hughey; son, Mark Davis Hughey; four grandchildren, Henry, Pierce, and Cecelia Hanson, and Anna Hughey; and his nephew, Calen Hughey.

The family will be having a private memorial service. In lieu of flowers, they ask that donations in his memory be made to either Red Mountain Grace, 2120 16th Avenue South, Birmingham, AL 35205; Big Oak Boys Ranch, 5265 Jake Mintz Rd., Gadsden, AL 35905; or Adventure Cross Cultural Initiatives (ACCI), 239 Hampton Street, Rock Hill, SC 29730.

The family wants to thank their niece, Tammy Crane, for her tireless devotion and help during his illness; Dr. Lyman Mitchell for his medical care and compassion; and Davis’s close friends, Bill Vermillion, Phillip Forsythe, Sam Glasscock, and Stan Bone, for their friendship and support.
