Jerry Ray
Gallien

October 14, 1942 - July 21, 2025

Jerry Ray Gallien, age 82, of Florence, passed away Monday, July 21, 2025.

He was Preceded in death y his parents, Hayes and Elizabeth Gallien; sister, Sandra Sharp; father-in-law, Claude Haddock; mother-in-law, Willowdean Haddock.

Survivors are his wife, Glenda Gallien; daughters, Camille Gruber (Steve) and Joli James (Tony); grandchildren, Cecelia and Julia Rumph; his Lifelong Best Friends, Pat and Shelby Gargis, and his Beloved cat Meow Meow.

He was the ideal Husband, Daddy and Popaw. We always knew that if we called him with a need, he would come to us immediately.  His love for Mother was boundless, and he showered her with affection that was truly immeasurable. His granddaughters filled his heart with so much joy and he was so proud of them. He possessed a wonderful sense of humor and often enjoyed teasing others. Our friends, along with his nieces and nephews, and grandchildren were frequent targets of his playful antics, which only deepened their affection for him.

As a retired firefighter from Florence and an alumnus of Coffee High, he made a significant impact in our community. He had a natural ability to connect with people, never meeting a stranger and forming friendships with everyone he encountered. Extremely intelligent and skilled with his hands, he was always ready to lend a hand to friends with any project they undertook. Additionally, he was a well-respected local musician who found immense joy in playing music, cherishing every moment spent with other musicians and the audience that he always considered his friends.

We would like to extend our deepest gratitude and appreciation to Affinity Hospice and our incredible caregiver, Angie Threet. Your love and support during this challenging time have been a true blessing for both him and us.

In accordance with Mother’s wishes, we will not be holding a funeral service, but we carry each of you in our hearts as we honor Daddy’s memory.

In lieu of floral tributes, we kindly ask that donations be made to HASRA in his memory.
