Evelyn Marie
Smith

May 18, 1943 - August 7, 2025

Evelyn Marie (Frazier) Smith was born May 18th 1943 and departed this life August 7th 2025.

Evelyn was born in Lawrence County, TN to parents James Woodrow and Hazel Marie (Rooker) Frazier.  Evelyn was a faithful Christian, and lived her life following the example set by Jesus.  She married her husband Leon Smith in 1964 and together they create a family centered on Christ.  Evelyn was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother.  She counted her family as her greatest accomplishment.

Evelyn loved to laugh, and to spend time with her and Leon, was to know true joy.  They were a match made in heaven.  She was also loved spending time with her sisters; they were inseparable and enjoyed going on many trips over the years. She was a loving Aunt to all her nephews and nieces. She adored her children and was always a constant presence in their life, to lend a hand when needed, provide guidance or just to reassure them that they were loved. Her greatest role came as Nanny to her 10 grandchildren.  She loved them, babysitting many through most of their childhood.  You would find it difficult to find a more devoted grandmother. She loved them and gave them the same attention and guidance that she gave her own children.  Their love for her was equal to the love she gave them.

A light in this world, Evelyn embodied the principles laid out in the word of God.   Her charity and compassion were boundless.  She had many dear friends and will be missed by all that knew her.  Though we no longer have her with us, we need only close our eyes to see that smile that always greeted us at each meeting.  Her spirit has returned to God, and we have confidence that we will meet again.

Preceded in death by parents James Woodrow Frazier and Hazel Marie (Rooker) Frazier, Brothers Jerry Frazier, Jackie Frazier, Don Frazier, and Sisters Cindy Hughes, and Glenda Faye Duncan, and granddaughter Bayli Smith.

Survived by her Husband of 61 years, Leon Smith, Son Alan Smith, Daughters Kimberly (Tim) Chaney and Kelly Smith, Siblings Pat Cobb, Trecia Pierce and Mary Baker. Grandchildren Luke (Larrisa) Cabrera, Landon (Claire) Cabrera, Brooke Cabrera, Rusty Smith, Chloe (Michael) Bryant, Colby (Shelby) Wesson, Brayde Cabrera, Gatlin Chaney and Logan Chaney.  Great Grandchildren Za’rhya Fallows, Brylan Smith, Lincoln Cabrera, Ophelia Kate Chaney, Olivia Cabrera, and Tate Wesson, and many nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces.

  1. My heart just breaks to hear of the passing of dear Aunt Evelyn. She will always be that for me even though when I was a teenager I found out we were really cousins. Her and Leon always made sure we knew the word of god. My deepest sympathies to Leon and all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be missed.
