James Lowell Bourland, 75, of Florence, passed away May 6, 2026. A graveside service will be held Saturday, May 23rd 10:00am -11:00 am at Evergreen Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, Louis D. Bourland; mother, Beaulah C. Bourland; sister, Linda Gail Wallace; niece, Quita J. Leopard; brother-in-law, J. W. Wallace.
Lowell is survived by his nephew, Johnny W. Wallace; niece, Anita E. Wallace; great nephew, Jay W. Castile (Ashley); great niece, Tiffany G. Castile, Crystal Pauline Johnson (Thomas), Linda J. Brown; several great-great nieces and nephews.
Lowell graduated Florence State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Business and proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1970 to 1972 as a Vietnam Veteran, earning multiple medals for his service and dedication. He spent many years working as a skilled locksmith, a profession that reflected both his creativity and his talent for working with his hands.
A devoted member of Evergreen Baptist Church, James was known for his kind heart, friendly spirit, and ability to make friends wherever he went. He deeply loved his pets, his cat Cooper and his dog Ollie, and treasured the time spent with them.
Lowell had a creative mind and enjoyed building and making things. He also loved computer games and had a special passion for photography, capturing beautiful moments through his camera lens. His warmth, creativity, and gentle soul left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him, and he will be dearly missed.
