Sam Harold
Glasscock
September 16, 1948 - May 9, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound peace that we announce the passing of Sam Harold Glasscock, of Florence, Alabama, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, who went to be with the Lord on May 9, 2026. After a courageous battle with Primary Progressive Aphasia Alzheimer’s, he is finally restored, his voice returned, and his mind clear once again. Sam was a beloved member of Grace House Church, where he found encouragement, community, and spiritual family.
A man of deep character, integrity, and quiet strength, Sam was a graduate of Coffee High School (1966). He earned bachelor’s degrees in accounting and industrial management from Auburn University (1972), followed by an M.B.A. and a Certificate in Management Accounting from the University of North Alabama (1977). Throughout his distinguished career at Reynolds Metals Company Alloys Sheet and Plate Plant, later known as Wise Metal Group and now Constellium N.V., Sam was defined by his loyalty and professional excellence. He worked his way from Cost Analyst and General Accounting Manager to ultimately retiring as Executive Vice President of Financial Operations.
He was the cornerstone of his family and leaves behind his beloved wife, Lorraine (Glock) Glasscock, who walked steadfastly by his side through every season of life for nearly 56 years. He was the proud and loving father of two daughters, Dr. Leigh Seamon (Jason) and Krista Glasscock, teaching them by example what it meant to be hardworking, kind, and deeply devoted to those you love. His legacy continues through his cherished grandson, David Seamon, and granddaughter, Samantha Seamon, who affectionately called him ‘GrandSam.’ They brought him immeasurable joy in his later years and inspired many treasured trips to Rockford, Michigan.
Those who knew Sam knew where to find him on a Saturday in the fall: clad in orange and blue, cheering on his beloved Auburn Tigers. When he wasn’t shouting “War Eagle,” he was likely on the golf course. Some of his happiest days were spent on the greens, particularly those shared with his dear late friend, Davis Hughey. One can only imagine the beautiful round of golf the two of them are enjoying together now.
His soul found true rest at the beach in Fort Morgan, Alabama. He marveled at God’s handiwork in the vastness of the ocean, finding peace in the rhythm of the waves and the warmth of the Gulf sun. It was his sanctuary, a place where the worries of the world faded into the horizon.
Sam is survived by his wife, daughters, and grandchildren; his brother, John Glasscock; his uncle, Jere Hudson; his sister-in-law, Patricia Bailey (Dick); his brother-in-law, Bill Glock (Sharon); his brother-in-law, Pelter “Mac” McDaniel; and a host of treasured friends and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Marjorie Glasscock; his sister, Elizabeth “Libby” McDaniel; and his grandparents, Sam and Beatrice Hudson and James Fletcher and Ada Glasscock, with whom he is now joyfully reunited.
The family is forever grateful for the dignity, warmth, and compassionate care shown to Sam throughout his journey. A special thank you to the Preferred Hospice team, especially Nina, Cassandra, Tracy, Ashley, and Chaplain Chance, as well as Pastor Gary Cosby and his special friend and sitter, James Jackson, whose kindness and faithful presence brought comfort not only to Sam, but to all who loved him.
A service in celebration of a life well lived will be held on June 6 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel at Williams Funeral Home in Florence, Alabama. The service will be officiated by Pastors Doc Shell and Eddie Lawrence. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Grace House Church, 389 Seville Street, Florence, Alabama 35634, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, designated in memory of Sam Glasscock.
War Eagle, Sam. You will be missed forever, but your spirit remains in every ocean breeze and every orange and blue sunset.
