James Dennis Brashier, 69, of Florence, passed away May 22, 2026 after a brave battle with ALS surrounded by loved ones. Visitation will be Saturday, June 6 at Williams Funeral Home from 11:00am – 12:00 pm with the memorial service immediately following.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Maxine Brashier; brother, Mike Brashier; in-laws, Buford Pounders, Ruth Pounders Hunt (Harold); and brother-in-law, Doug Pounders.

Dennis is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Lisa Pounders Brashier; children, Jason Brashier (April) and Katie Sharitt (Jason); grandchildren, Ava Brashier, Miles Brashier, Amos Brashier, Agnes Brashier, Laurel Brashier. Additional survivors include brother-in-law, Tim Pounders (Vicki); nephew, John Pounders (Chris); fur babies, Phoebe and Nash and grand fur babies Ivy and Peter.

Dennis worked for American Commercial Barge Line as a chief engineer. He enjoyed spending his free time golfing, camping, and gardening, and he was known for his strong work ethic and love of the outdoors.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Gentiva Hospice, especially Marissa, Jessica, Gloria, and Tiara, as well as Cornerstone Caregiving, especially Keisha, for their compassionate care and support. Special Gratitude to Shannon for her support since day one.
