Annie Laurie Freeman, age 98, of Center Star and Decatur, passed away on Friday, April 24th, 2026.  Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 28th from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon at Williams Funeral Home of Florence.  The service will follow at 12:00 noon in the funeral home chapel with Brother Greg Cook officiating.  Burial will be at Decatur City Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be BJ Herron, Matthew Landers, Dennis Freeman, Caleb Gautney, Andrew Gautney, and Jon Herron.

Laurie was born May 22nd, 1927 in Elgin, AL to Lawton and Pearlie Williams as the oldest of three siblings.  They travelled with TVA and she graduated from Camden High School in Tennessee before the family settled in Decatur, Alabama where she met her husband and they raised their four children.

She was a member of Center Star Methodist church and a retiree of Morgan County Courthouse after around 50 years of service as a clerk in the Probate Office.  She was a beautiful soul, sophisticated and always poised and polished, the most kind and generous person. She loved deeply and loyally and was loved by everyone who knew her. She will be greatly missed here on earth, but is undoubtedly celebrating in heaven with all who went before her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Lawton and Annie Pearl Williams; husband, Bill Freeman, Sr.; brother, Bobby Williams; sister, Jean Gautney; daughter, Lindy Landers; son, Jerry Freeman; son-in-law, Ricky Holden.

She is survived by her children, Bill Freeman, Jr. (Diane) and Robin Holden; daughter-in-law, Ramona Freeman; grandchildren, Adam, BJ (Kara), Matthew (Roxanne), Dennis (Lisa), Jessica (Anthony), and Rebecca; 12 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
