Lex Gene Moody, age 72, of Florence, passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2026.
A Celebration of Life visitation will be on Saturday, May 23rd, from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm at Williams Funeral Home of Florence. There will be a private burial later.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Max and Doris Moody; brother, Rusty Moody (Becky).
Survivors are his loving wife of 48 years, Yvonne Moody; daughters, Serra Ellis (Justin) and Nicole Perkins (Eric); siblings, Allen Moody (Agnes) and Bret Moody; grandchildren, Haley Creel and Makenzie Perkins; several nieces and nephews.
Lex Gene Moody was born on September 22 of 1953 in Florence, Alabama. He graduated high school in 1971 at 17 years old and was the youngest member of his graduating class. After graduating, he went to Calhoun Community College to get an education to become a barber. He then went on to open Hats off Barbers barber shop in Florence, which he owned and operated until his passing. In 1978, Lex married Yvonne, his loving wife of 48 years. They had their first daughter, Serra, in 1980 and they welcomed their second daughter, Nicole, in 1985. He was a member of Mid-Lauderdale Volunteer Firefighters for 20 years. Of the many titles he held, his favorite title was being called Pawpaw by his grandchildren Haley and Makenzie.

Words cannot express how sad we are for the loss of our friend! He was loved by everyone he met! To know him was to know he was telling jokes and always smiling.
