Harry Eugene
Pierce

October 30, 1952 - January 22, 2021

Harry Eugene Pierce was born October 30, 1952 and died January 22, 2021.

The birth and death of this great man, however, is not nearly as relevant as all the days that he lived life to the fullest between those two dates.

Eugene passed away on January 22, 2021 at the age of 68 after a courageous battle with COVID, surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest.  Eugene’s love of life didn’t come to an end with his death; he had an incredible joy for life and always put his family and friends first. He would want his friends and family to continue pushing forward together. Each moment matters, so make it count.

Eugene loved music; he loved to cook and was always up for a gathering of family and friends. As he would loved to say it: “Fun, Food & Karaoke”. Eugene will be forever remembered for his smile, gentle eyes, caring heart, loving embrace and unconditional love. Although our hearts are heavy, we will celebrate his life and find comfort that he is in heaven watching over us. He was an amazing poppa to his four granddaughters and never missed an opportunity to spoil them. The family will have a celebration of life in the spring or summer to allow friends and family to come celebrate his memory.

The family would like to thank all the health care professionals from the Athens Limestone Hospital for their great care in the last few weeks of his life.

  4. Debbie, Eugene really was one of the best people and finest men I have ever known! I am blessed to have worked with him professionally-his wise judgment and guidance helped many hundreds get their lives back on track. I am also blessed that he was a friend-the kind that would always be there if needed! He loved you and his family so very much and I wish we could understand why he had to leave this earth so soon! But I know he is rejoicing in his eternal home and I know that we will see him again. I am praying for peace and comfort for you and his precious children and grandchildren during this time of sadness and grief and I hope to have the opportunity to celebrate his life with you all when circumstances permit.

  5. Uncle Eugene, was a wonderful, compassionate person. Whenever I came to Alabama, he always invited me to his home. He was a wonderful cook, and love to entertain. I also really enjoyed our conversations, he was truly an amazing man, he loved his wife and family, and adored his granddaughters. Praying for Debbie, and his family to get through these difficult times. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

  6. Eugene was a good man and a good friend. He always had sound advice if I asked for it. He helped me to stay on the best path in life. He also helped me to get fat with some great cooking. I love you brother. I hope our paths cross again someday.

  7. I want to thank all of our friends and family for the outpouring of love over the past few weeks. It has been extraordinary – and each story you have shared will help keep Eugene alive in our hearts and memories.
He was such a wonderful man. I’m not sure I can really express just how much I will miss him. Not only was he a wonderful husband, but a wonderful father, grandfather, brother, best friend, colleague …and so much more.

His ability to make everyone feel comfortable, secure and loved were his greatest strengths. It has been nearly 45 years since we were first married and I look back over those years with so much happiness.

Eugene was always quick with a witty remark, his good nature attracted people the moment he walked in the room, and no one could forget his contagious laugh.
He was my soul mate and my inspiration – my steadfast rock that helped me through thick and thin. Eugene supported and loved us all, and was always there to help navigate through life’s challenges. I know he is looking down at us with a big smile on his face saying, “Forge ahead – make the best of life – and I’ll see you soon. We have work to do up here, too.”
He was completely dedicated to our son Brad in every way – and Brad’s strength these past few weeks is the best sign I could have that Eugene is still here with us in spirit.

    Goodbye, my dear, sweet husband
    I will always love you
