Jessie Lee May, age 58, of Florence, passed away January 27, 2023. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 5, from 12;00 – 1:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Canaan Cemetery in Florence.

Jessie was a great person and friend. He was always there when my sister had cancer. They’ve known each other for 30 years I know.
Jessy was a card to say the least. He is my cousin. We went to Central High School togather and lived beside each other for years in Waterloo. We had 3 classes togather the very last class of the day was Science with a teacher that had a very healthy paddle board with holes in it. The teacher had gotten a really good arm on him by the year ending that year. I know because Jessy made sure that he got to exercise it daily NO NOT ON HIM BUT ON ME .. HE LOVED TO SPIT SPIT BALLS IN MY HAIR & YES I HATED IT SO THE FIGHT WAS ON LOL. Wow Jessy that seems so long ago we would fight like cats and dogs but let someone mess with the other one and yes the paddle an or suspicions would be given to us lol. No we did that in school (fight) lol but at home we had a ball playing softball riding motorcycles oh going over to the pasture at the pond and getting a bull after us , yes Jessy knew what would happen but not the dum city chick that had just been uprootted and moved to the country ( ME) My mom and step dad decided to raise of all things stinking nasty pigs yeap I was broke into pig farming all at once. Spending the night delivering pigs all night then getting a shower and go straight to school not such fun nights by no means. It seemed that that was a every other week. But as I had to do this by myself after Jessys mom & dad would go to bed Jessy would slip out and he would keep me company and help deliver pigglets from time to time lol. Jessy was a loving and caring and most giving man. He was a family man to the end he loved his kids and boy that grandbaby now that was what gave him reason it gave him true love it gave him what he wanted reason and love. I am so so so sad & sorry Jessy that I did not know you where sick. I am so so sorry I had to learn about your passing from a complete stranger at the gas pumps just last night yes just last night. 4/30/2026 this is horrible. I promise Jessy had I had known you where sick I would have been right there by your side I promise. Had I had known you had passed I would have been there to say good buy to a GREAT MAN MY COUSIN JESSY LEE MAY. I have been away for several years but there was family still here . But some of them found out after I did when I told them. I don’t understand Jessy what happend to the meaning of family. But I know you are in a beautiful place watching that beautiful gradbay become a great adult. Jessy we will all be togather again one day I cant wait for you to take me around in paradise and show me the beauty. We both have so many family & friends that has gone home with the Lord . Jessy just know from the depth of my heart and soul I’m so sorry so sorry and know that you was always my favorite Cusion my partner in crime yea lol. The world will not be the same without Jessy the card lol really the good man and the good things you did here in your time and the love that you shared. I love you and miss you. Your time was WAY TO SHORT HERE.
