September 11, 1946 - October 3, 2018

Our beloved Eileen Marie Siegel, age 72 went to be with our Lord on October 3rd, 2018 after a fearless battle with pancreatic cancer.

She was born September 11, 1946 in Rochester, New York to Joseph and Dorothy Geraghty and was the youngest of 3 children. Eileen graduated from Villa Maria College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Work. She recently retired from SafePlace after 27 years of faithful service as a Social Worker for abused women and children. She was a member of Christ Chapel where she served in various roles and capacities. She was known for showing the love of Christ to all she came in contact with as well as her love for Notre Dame football.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Bill Siegel, children, Joseph (Tabitha), Jean Marie (Teddy Hanback) and Timothy (Jessica), Grandchildren Chloe Siegel, Ava Siegel, Scout Siegel, Noah Hanback, Braxton Reeps and Ellie Siegel, Brother Johnny (Bonnie) Geraghty, Sister Sheila Geraghty. Nephews – John Geraghty, David Geraghty, Michael Geraghty, Ed Redingar and Scott Redingar.

Visitation will be 11 am to 1 pm and funeral at 1 pm Saturday, October 6th at Christ Chapel in Florence, Alabama. A graveside service will immediately follow at Central Community Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to SafePlace. Special thanks to Kindred Home Health, AlaCare Hospice, Medical Associates of the Shoals, Shoals Kidney Center and UAB Oncology.

  1. I am so sorry to read of Eileen’s passing. I was praying that she would beat this beast of a cancer. I just hope that she did not suffer a lot towards the end as many do. Even though we might question it, she would have ben the first to say that it was God’s plan and his timing for her. She was a remarkable lady.
